Girl at the Ironing Board

Description

Lisa Hayden will be at our October event share with us her inspiring story, running a successful family business, raising a small family and having been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer with a 50-50 chance of survival. She creates Girl at the Ironing Board, a series of letters to her children which are sometimes funny, sometimes informative, but always with lots of love!
In 2004 Lisa was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She was given a 50-50 chance of survival. She had 2 young children – Gretel was 9 and Sam was 6.

With such frightening odds being discussed, her greatest fear was leaving two young children without a mother. Lisa wrote a series of letters to her children.

Sometimes funny, sometimes informative, but always with lots of love! Lisa says that the idea came to her one day whilst ironing – the only household chore she could do at the time. And so evolved “letters from the ironing board”, words from a mother to her children in case she was not around to say them herself.

In February this year Lisa was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which she is having treatment for at the moment.
